Pennethorne Estate, TA19

Pennethorne Estate boasts a rich and varied history, reflected in its diverse architectural offerings. At its heart lies a rare opportunity to access an empty mock-Gothic mansion, set within overgrown parkland. Its large, high ceilinged rooms and towering glass windows showcase an eerie faded grandeur, and as a vacant property with multiple unoccupied courtyard buildings close by, it serves as an ideal multi-use location for film productions.

In contrast, an ultra-modern glass house sits at a high point on the estate, offering sweeping views of the landscape, as well as much-loved 17th-century manor house exuding plenty of  quintessential rural charm, complete with elegant formal gardens. A large thatched barn, positioned opposite the Manor house, stands empty, offering ample additional opportunity to serve as a versatile historical backdrop.

The estate features plenty more historic buildings, including grand arched stables and charming thatched cottages, as well as full working farm yards (including a large dairy herd and modern milking parlour) and 3000 acres of farm land.  Pennethorne Estate is exceptional in its  range of locations that span different eras, each with its own character and providing a distinct backdrop for filming and photoshoots. From atmospheric, empty spaces to period stone buildings and sleek contemporary architecture, this best-kept-secret of a location offers an unparalleled variety of scenes, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of productions.
