Groundswell 2024: The Field Good Factor
The sun certainly shone on us at Groundswell last month, but even the baking heat of the hottest day of the year didn’t deter anyone’s spirits as we filled the day listening to fascinating talks and having enthusiastic and inspiring conversations.
We knew we were heading to a farming show, but this farming show was like no other – the organisers of this inspired regenerative farming event, have created a relaxed festival atmosphere combined with best-in-class talks (and food stands!), gathering so many positive and engaged, forward-thinking farmers and growers of all ages, from all walks of life and all corners of the world. There were dairy farmers from Sweden, coffee farmers from Kenya, young farmers embarking on running their first farms and seasoned owners all with the same goal: to share ideas and tips on new regenerative ways to farm their land, whilst maintaining a healthy balance between helping the planet, feeding the nation, and making an income that still secures the future for their farm and families.
Great to meet you!
This was Farm Locations’ first year at Groundswell and our meeting spot at the show made the most of a constant buzz of people popping by.
We felt extremely fortunate to play a tiny part is this exciting movement of dynamic farmers and growers, and were so happy to catch up with several of our current owners in a whole new setting. We also shared the passion for filming with many others too, connecting with new farmers and growers, botanists, advisors, land agents, scientists, it was so inspiring! The festival had a magical atmosphere where you could have friendly and thought-provoking conversations with anyone you bumped into.
We talked from dawn til dusk and came away brimming with ideas on how we can play a part in helping farms diversify “lightly”, allowing owners to continue to work the land they farm.
It was a great experience and a treat to end each day with a cider in the setting sun whilst listening to live music and chatting to new friends about common goals. We hope we will be back next year – we may even camp!
